I have two WordPress sites running on a single host, one is running as the root (eg: root.com) and the other is running as a subdomain under the root (eg: xx.root.com). This is to allow multil-lingual versions of the same site under the same roof.
My hosting provider runs Cpanel & WHM on Linux, and I have a static IP for the root (eg: root.com). I can only install one SSL certificate, and am having real problems installing a self-signed wildcard certificate to cover both.
Is there any simple way I can configure WordPress in the subdomain (eg xx.root.com) to allow password logins via SSL using the same certificate as the root directory? At present I get an error (after I accept the browser certificate errors):
“The requested URL /XX/wp-admin/ was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request”
I have already checked out http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Over_SSL
