    Hi

We attached Square for Woocommerce yesterday using Woocommerce as the system of record syncing from.

Woocommerce now has a lot of products now showing zero stock and zero sales when we know we have done that.

What has happened and how do we fix.

The sync was always set as Woocommerce as the system of record.

    Hello shaunlb,

Thank you for contacting Woo support.

To clarify, is this the first time you’ve set up Square for WooCommerce?
It sounds like this integration has caused stock levels to display as zero and sales to reflect inaccurately.

Could you please share a screenshot of your WooCommerce for the Square settings page?
Additionally, it would be helpful to see a list of your active plugins to check for any potential conflicts.

his information will help us diagnose the issue more effectively.
Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Best regards.

    Hi Zubair

Yes it is the first time setting up.

I’ve also noticed for the past 2 days the items i put stock back in as previous day (no sales changes) and then checked following day they had gone back to zero.

So last night we disconnected the link to Square and this morning I found 3 products that were at zero again. I have fixed those and will test again tomorrow. Not sure what has happened (I have used bulk import sheets for only 133 products fixing stock and random tested the quantity was correct afterwards – no reason bulk import with sheets would be failing me now) . Settings below for Square and plugins active (a couple in snapshots not – sorry for long list).

Sorry I have tried to copy paste images of Square settings and Active plugins and just get circle of death with image trying to load. Not sure how to show you this detail?

I can tell you on the Woocommerce > Settings > Square – Update Tab the setting is

WooCommerce is the system of record set in the sync settings. The following data from WooCommerce will overwrite Square data for synced products: name, price, inventory, category, image.” and the Settings tab of Square it is set to Environment Selection –> Production. I have also now turned on Debug Mode – Save to Log and Enable Logging.

As mentioned I can’t paste images here they just circle out as if uploading – not sure how to add/show you.

    Hello shaunlb,

    Thank you for your reply.

You can use a tool like Snipboard.io to upload screenshots. After uploading, simply paste the URL here, and I’ll be able to view them.

Regarding the issue, it’s helpful that you’ve already enabled the Debug Log.
Do you see any entries there? That will give us more insight into what might be happening behind the scenes.

To clarify, when you disconnected the Square link, did the stock quantities still go to zero afterward?
How exactly did you disconnect the Square link?

Could you try disabling the WooCommerce Square plugin temporarily and monitor your stock levels for a day? This will help us confirm whether the issue is indeed coming from the plugin or another source.

Let me know what you find from the logs or if the issue persists without Square enabled.
I’ll be happy to assist further based on those results.

    Best regards.

    Hi

We noticed during the connection some item stocks went to zero (and we also noted in our WordPress Sheet Editor all stock quantities went from say “1” to a “1.000000” formatting – which is no problem but odd.

I thought I found 3 more items that had gone to zero stock after disconnecting but may have missed them in my checks.

Since being off a few days no stock errors have occurred.

I disconnected square here in the Wooocommerc > Square interface – where you can connect and disconnect with a button click. https://snipboard.io/bNQVqZ.jpg

Yes there are entries in the log. I have a zip file about 3MB from entries on the 20/9/24 – I have a link share here https://file.io/jRKn1n8GfFXi

I have now deactivated square plugin

    Standing by

    Hello shaunlb,

    Thank you for your reply.

There is another thread where a similar problem was reported.
In that case, the problem is triggered by creating a Purchase Order in Square.

Could you check and confirm if this action is also causing the problem?
Or is it happening without any interaction with Square or WooCommerce?

This information will help me pinpoint the cause and work toward a solution.
Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Best regards.

    Hi

We have only had one Square purchase when we accidentally enabled in checkout and at one stage we had 2 credit card paymen types and 1 customer used the Square one on our online site checkout.

All of this seemed to have happened when we connected Square and some time during the syncing process.

It has stopped since we disconnected. I really want to connect again so we can sync products again (as seems to sync endlessly and doesnt seem to stop) and do a test purchase with a Terminal type url on a laptop.

Our thoughts are Square was the only variable of late to have caused this.

I will be connecting again soon and then doing checks of stock over 24 hours to see if it removes stock. That is all I can think of to see if it was some strange anomoly.

    Regards

    Shaun

    Hello shaunlb,

    Thank you for your reply.

It sounds like the issue may have been related to the initial Square connection. Please go ahead and reconnect Square and perform the test as planned. Afterward, monitor the stock and transactions over the next 24 hours to ensure everything is functioning correctly.

Let me know how it goes, and if you encounter any issues, I’ll be happy to assist further!

    Best regards.

    Hi Zubair

Would you recommend we purchase https://highthemes.com/plugins/woosquare-pro/ instead of the free plugin based on some of the points made here https://dbdc.us/articles/square-for-woocommerce-integration-review/ ?

I note some of our products have multiple categories (eg. rock, punk etc). We don’t care if square doesnt recognise more than 1 as we just need all products in square (and handle genres typically in online site). We just dont want square to reject syncing across all products if they have multiple categories associated. Does it just take the first category and keep the product sync’d or reject altogether?

    Shaun

    Hello shaunlb,

    Thank you for your reply.

The WooSquare Pro is a 3rd party plugin and I have never used it myself.
So I am not in any position to comment on that.

However, I suggest you post this question in Woo Community Slack and the Woo Community Facebook group. There are many WooCommerce users on these platforms who can provide you their opinions.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have more questions or concerns.
We are here to help 🙂

    Hi

I do have another question – sorry.

Sorry I noticed during our problematic sync that some date fields like this –> “Square Item Id Square Item Variation Id Square Item Image Id Square Item Variation Version Square Item Version Square Uploaded Image Id” got populated with some data.

When we reactivatd Square plugin and reconnected and synced again we again got 0 stock occurences across 173 products (a lot seemed to be from products with old data populated from previous – in the fields above).

I have now disconnected square again, cleared all that data against all products in woocommerce and also gone into square and deleted all products in the item library so as to assume a fresh start.

I also noted after sync that not all our products appeared in the Square Item Library (I guess that is my next challenge)

I shall try reconnection and syncing and see again if it tries to zero stock some items.

After that I guess we are done with Square.

    Regards,

    Shaun

    Hi @shaunlb

It’s a good step that you have cleared all the data from previous syncs and are starting fresh.

I also noted after sync that not all our products appeared in the Square Item Library (I guess that is my next challenge)

This could be due to various reasons, such as product types not supported by Square or issues with product data.

Please proceed with the reconnection and syncing and monitor the results. If the issues persist, it might be worth considering reaching out to Square’s support team for further assistance as they might be able to provide more insight into the issue from their end.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.
