# SQL syntax error: couldn’t register an user!

 * Help! I don’t know anything anythiung about SQL! I just installed WordPress 1.2
   so that I can import my exisiting Grey Matter stuff and then I plan to upgrade
   to WP 1.5. Only problem is the importer fails with this error:
 * Database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that 
   corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘WHERE
   user_login = ‘webhobbi” at line 1]
    SELECT user_login FROM WHERE user_login =‘
   webhobbi’
 * ERROR: couldn’t register an user!
 * My Host is HostRocket. I have CPanel and MYPHPadmin. Can someone give me a hand.
   I am reasonably adept at HTML but know nothing of SQL!

 * I fixed it. Reinstalled to a different directory and for some reason it works
   now.

 * Hey everyone,
    I am getting a similar error message on my blog when I try and
   respond to people commenting or when I try and pull up an individual post:
 * WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual
   that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near‘
   ORDER BY post_date ASC LIMIT 0,1’ at line 1]
    SELECT ID,post_title FROM wp_posts
   WHERE post_date > ” AND post_date < ‘2005-05-16 13:35:11’ AND post_status = ‘
   publish’ AND ID != ORDER BY post_date ASC LIMIT 0,1
 * So if anyone has suggestions on what to do, I’m all ears. Thanks for your help.
