# SQL overload

 * Hello,
    For 1-2 weeks, my website has been working erraticly. It is down most
   of the time, overloaded with to much Queries. Adding Cloudflare, i reduced the
   HTTP requests but now, my SQL server is very weak. It is using a lot of CPU. 
   Some requests overload it and I got Error establishing a database connection.
   When i try ti repair (define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true);) i got often this message:“
   wp_options: 2 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly”.
 * I believe that my website is under a DDOS attack or something but i don’t know
   how to react properly.
 * How can I know what process a causing my problem ?
    What should I do ?

 * I think the first point of contact should be with your host. They should be able
   to tell you if there is any unusual traffic etc.
    Depending on the information
   from your host we can go from there.
 * A drastic measure can be to temporarily block all traffic apart from your own
   ip address to create some quiet time for you to sort out your problem.

    My host is OVH and they are not very useful. They are just googd when 
   you don’t need them. They said their are a unusual amount of request (>1Million
   in a week) and suspect a DDOS attack. That said, they are useless

    OVH is the most popular in french. it’s a good host… when you don’t
   have no trouble.

 * A host that is only good when you don’t have problems, is not a good host.
 * Install WordFence, Sucuri or similar plugin to block login/hack attempts. You’ll
   get some idea of how much dodgy traffic is arriving, and possibly speed the website
   back up again.
