• Hello,
I have SPUN theme on my blog – http://careersinbizness.in – I want to know if the SPUN theme is good from an SEO point of view or should I change to some other theme.

I also like the Customizr theme but I am not sure if changing the theme will affect the SEO badly as my blog traffic has only started picking up now.

I am an absolute non-techie. The reason I want to change the theme are:
    1) I am not sure the theme I am using is good for SEO, since it is a free theme.

    2) The SPUN theme does not allow me to have the sidebars on the left/right side of the content. The sidebars go at the bottom of the content. I want left, right sidebars with widgets for subscribe, tag-cloud and categories, related posts, search, social shares.

    3) For some reason the font used in the theme ‘playfair display’ is not looking good at all now. It used to look much better before.

    4) The home page of SPUN has circles where the post links appear. this is the reason I had chosen SPUN, but the circles are taking up the images from the post, while I want them to only display post titles.

I am willing to try any other theme that allows a display of posts on the homepage similar to SPUN and is good for SEO.

    Nobody?

    Hi ProbablyAnkita,

There are many free and paid themes that are good for SEO / readable by search engines. Look at themes that are:

    • Fast loading
    • Have H1 tags at the top of the page
    • and have space for content and images

Looking at the theme its very hard to navigate around the site from the menu bar so would not provide a good user experience.

    Thanks Josh.

I think SPUN does have H1 tags at the top. All my post titles are in H1. Or is it because I am using Yoast SEO Plugin which is formatting the post titles as H1 headings.

I would like to stick with SPUN if only I can confirm it is good for SEO and if there is some way I can add sidebars / menu bar to appear in the reading pane without having to scroll down. Also would like to know how to resolve the font issue and the images appearing in the post circles on the homepage.

If the above is not possible my only option is to find a theme that is as neat as SPUN and also supports SEO and allows menubar/sidebars while also providing a quick view of 15-16 posts on the homepage, just like SPUN does, so that I can display the best 15 posts on the homepage.
