Spun – contact form compatibility

Hi
am just wondering if anyone using the spun theme has a contact form on their website and has found it works. I just need something really simple (3/4 form fields) with some sort of spam filtering option.
What would you recommend?

Am looking at this one to use
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-contact-forms/
but on their details page under Restrictions/Requirements it has the following:
PHP register_globals and safe_mode should be set to “Off” (this is done in your php.ini file)
Your theme must call wp_head() and wp_footer()

Does spun call up wp_head and footer and is it safe to make the changes to php.ini file as they suggest?
