  • Yikes, just checked your site and the first picture is running right over (no pun intended – okay, well, maybe 😉 ) your sidebar. Neat site, though.

Okay, if you are NEVER getting any of the comments, they you have a bigger problem that upgrading to 1.5.1.2 might help with.

It could also not be a WordPress problem. Your server may not “release” email on a regular basis, or decide that that particular email was spam, even though WordPress’ spam filters already cleared it. I often will “see” the post in my Admin > Manage > Comments before I see it in my email. Not always, but sometimes. Later the comment comes through.

It is a combination of things. Your email checking process (auto or manual?), the spam filtering process via your server, the server, and a lot of other things, none of them directly related to WordPress.

If comments on your site are important to you, consider adding ColdForged’s Paged Comments Plugin. It makes controlling your spam….awesome.

Thanks, Lorelle! I just added that plugin. Looks very cool. I will check on the server. Maybe that is the problem. It seems sporadic, like I said, and I found one other person on the same server and domain that is having the problem as well.

    Thanks again!

Oh yeah, and I fixed that pic too. Thanks for the heads up. 🙂

You might want to confirm whether or not your email address is at fault by temporarily changing the email address in Options/General and the email address in your user profile.

Ah, I had tried changing the Options section email, but not the user one. When I changed the user one, the email came through right away. Change it back, and nothing. Must be Gmail is having a problem with the email notification.

Funny how the email notification uses the user profile, and not to the one you put in Options. If I have multiple users on my blog, do they ALL get an email everytime I have a comment?

I had the same problem, but with the “change password” emails – they would take a looooong time to arrive. I think it was just traffic or a temporary service issue, because after that, they started coming at lightning speed again. Is the delay something new, or has it always been like that? That info might help to pinpoint the problem.

JoninMichigan: the author of a post will get notified of new comments.

Exactly as Skippy said. The email in Options/General is the administrator email and only gets notified of administrator tasks such as new registrations and comments awaiting moderation. The email in your user profile is what gets notified whenever a comment is posted to an article that you published.
