• Hi,
The Collapse-O-Matic spoilers seem to lose their ability to show the expanded content when several spoilers are placed in vertically “parallel” boxes/containers.
Description: they are perfectly functional when placed ABOVE each other in several rows, but then lock to the title size, without expanding, if placed – side by side – in several columns (divs) in the same row.

It gets trickier: There is an exception, they DO expand if placed in a large row that has a “column-count” css instruction to break the row content adaptively in several columns (this however is not a solution due to the random placement of said content).
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

    Hi Twinpictures,
Those were definitely a lot of great controls and did part of the trick, thanks!
We will look into the documentation in detail.

We now need to find out how to manage “real” (div) columns, if at all possible, in a more responsive/controllable way, so it’s not just the float that manages the layout on different screen widths. We use Tom Usborne’s lightweight-grid-columns plugin which has a built responsive control directly in the short codes, but that killed the pull down of the content in a first try.

It sounds like you need to learn about the Roll-Your-Own method that is described in detail here:
    https://spacedonkey.de/1247/collapse-o-matic-the-roll-your-own-method/

In short, it allows the trigger and targets to be decoupled from the shortcode and placed independently in a more responsive way.

Give that a look, and ping us back with any questions if you get stuck.

    Hi twinpictures,
Thanks, we managed to get the Roll-Your-Own method to work OK, with its advantages.
However we noted that the transition to display the the target content was less smooth than via the short code and we got a bit stuck with the swaptitle not displaying in this case.

In think we will simply opt to pursue with the short code approach and use a different column plugin to insert the Collaps-o-matic spoilers side by side (ie. Genesis Columns Advanced which offers a reasonably responsive behaviour), so we are good for now.

    Thanks again for prompt response!
