I have a blog where 2 authors have been writing for about 8 months now, under the same domain name. Now I want to split the blog into two separate ones on a new domain name. I used the export/import function of WP since I use exactly the same setup for all of the sites. So far so good.
When I made the first blog, it never occured to me that I should somehow add author name to the post pretty permalinks, so there is currently no way of knowing who the author is just by looking at the link.
The original blog has grown and ranks very well on Google on many terms, and I’d like to keep it that way with the new ones, and here comes my problem.
A regular 301-redirect would be something like;
I need to do 301-redirects preferrably with htaccess but I can’t come up with a smart way to make the redirections based on author. So in the above example it needs to know who wrote the original post and then redirect either to mynewsite.com/author1/party/~ or mynewsite.com/author2/party/~
The only way I can think of is having a php-file that takes care of the redirect by first looking it up in the old database, but that seems like a bad solution to me.
Please tell me your suggestions, I really appreciate the help!
