Split categories

Hi,

I want to split categories unrelated to each other into different lists on the sidebar.

Pity me, I thought this would be easy. I placed the wp_list_cats tags twice in the sidebar, excluding the cats I didn’t want to be shown in each and then discovered that only one of those tags issued categories (correctly excluding the others), but the second tag didn’t. The result is a “no categories” slugline where there should be the second batch.

Short of handcoding them in link by link, how do I do two (or more) cat_lists?
