# [WordPress Sphinx Plugin] Sphinx plugin doesn't work

 * Hello,
 * I have activated the Sphinx plugin and followed the Configuration Wizard but 
   for some reason, the indexer and searchd cannot parse the sphinx.conf file. I
   have already tried a few solutions like,
 * compiling PHP again
    permissions changing the wp_posts and wp_comments queries
   in the sphinx.conf
 * but no luck. Following is the error I receive:
 * > using config file ‘/home/<username>/public_html/wp-content/uploads/sphinx/sphinx.
   > conf’…
   >  ERROR: error executing ‘/usr/bin/php -q’ in /home/<username>/public_html/
   > wp-content/uploads/sphinx/sphinx.conf line 1 col 1. FATAL: failed to parse 
   > config file ‘/home/<username>/public_html/wp-content/uploads/sphinx/sphinx.
   > conf’
 * This is a cPanel server with SuPHP enabled.

 * Make sure this file exists ‘/home/<username>/public_html/wp-content/uploads/sphinx/
   sphinx.conf’
    and sphinx installed correctly at ‘/home/<username>/public_html/
   wp-content/uploads/sphinx/bin
 * Also, make sure that path to php is correct, on some system it is /usr/local/
   bin/php
 * Most problems with WP Sphinx plugin related to hosting plan.
    I.e. it is not 
   always working good on shared hosting. What is you hosting plan? Do you have 
   ssh access to it?

 * Thanks for replying..
 * The path to sphinx configuration as well as to bin directory is correct. PHP 
   is working from /usr/bin/php for sure as the websites are using the same path.
 * Mine is a Dedicated server and have root access.
 * Please share some more thoughts on this..
