spellcheck error

    @emperatrix

    I keep getting the following error message when I try to run the spellchecker:

    Error response: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”>
    <HTML><HEAD> <TITLE>406 Not Acceptable</TITLE> </HEAD><BODY> <H1>Not Acceptable</H1> An appropriate

    representation of the requested resource /wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/spellchecker/rpc.php could not be found on

    this server.<P> <HR> <ADDRESS>Apache/1.3.41 Server at http://www.things-she-said.org Port 80</ADDRESS>

    </BODY></HTML>

    I looked for the file that it refers to, and it definitely is on the server.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    That looks like an “error” caused by your web host’s server having enabled a specific add on for the Apache web server, which is called mod_security.

    Basically, the spell check routine is triggering a false positive by that module.

    There is a workaround that’ll probably work. Take a look at this post and later posts in that thread for details.

    I’m hesitant to suggest a specific course of action, other than checking with your web hosting provider and seeing what they’ll do or recommend.
