Support » Plugin: Caldera Forms - More Than Contact Forms » Specify recipient of emailed form

    Hi,
I have a custom post type (CPT) and would like to embed a contact form in the bottom of the template for this CPT, so that every entry of this CPT has a contact form, so that the current user can contact the author of the CPT entry.

The email address of the author of the CPT entry is a custom field within the CPT. It is NOT the email address of the author’s wp account email (in their profile).

I know of course how to get the contents of this email address custom field into a variable, and I imagine I need to somehow set a recipient of a form to this variable….

Can I/ How do I specify in a Caldera form to send the submitted form content to this email address?

    Thanks ahead of time 🙂

    Hi ironfish2,

Thanks for using Caldera Forms, this is a pretty cool application.

Without more information about what you are setting up and how, it’s tough for me to help. My first thought is that you want to use a magic tag to pull off an author (user ID) email address via a custom processor of sorts. We have guides to doing this in our documentation here: https://calderaforms.com/doc/using-magic-tags-caldera-forms/. If the specific magic tag you want isn’t available, it’s likely that it would have to be created for your specific use using custom code. You could do this if you are a developer, have your developer do it, or contract someone on a website like upwork.com to do it, using our developer documentation (https://calderaforms.com/category/actions/).

    Hi,

Without more information about what you are setting up and how, it’s tough for me to help.

I think I have been quite clear about what I want to do. I do not understand why you say you need more information. My suspicion here is that you do not understand what I have outlined. That you are not familiar with CPTs’, custom fields, etc. If you are not familiar, just say so, do not say that I have not provided enough info.

this is a pretty cool application.

Not sure why you would say this when you say you do not know my application (because you say you dont have enough info) or as I believe, you do not understand my application.

My first thought is that you want to use a magic tag to pull off an author (user ID) email address

Here I must say that I do not think you are listening/reading/paying attention, and/or you do not understand WP well enough, because I clearly say in my original post:

It is NOT the email address of the author’s wp account email (in their profile).

    And:

You could do this if you are a developer, have your developer do it, or contract someone on a website like upwork.com to do it, using our developer documentation (https://calderaforms.com/category/actions/).

Whether I am a dev, have a dev, or contract it out, I or they still need to know if this can be done, and if so, how.

Just to point me to the Actions archive is really no help, because I was already aware of it, and it has many actions. It would have been helpful if you at least pointed out which action would need to be used. If not also, how.

But my suspicion here is that again you do not know, so you are just sending me away to the docs, which is not providing any real help.

This, plus the fact that you respond about 1 month after my post, gives me the impression Caldera is not up to being able to support customers properly.

I have posed the same question to other form plugins and got a response with a day or 2, and they were able provide specific info as to how to do this. Or they told me it could not be done. Either way, it is helpful.

BTW already about 3 weeks ago, I selected another plugin.

    When you say:

    Thanks for using Caldera Forms

I was doing an evaluation of plugins. I was not using Caldera, I was evaluating it. You lost a potential client 3 weeks ago. I think it is important for you to know this so that you understand what part of the sales cycle I was in. That not responding for a month, and resonding in this manner, will lead to lost sales.

After your post, I do not know a single piece more information, that would allow me to understand if Caldera can do this, and how.

And BTW, you marking this as Resolved is IMHO entirely incorrect.
