Specific URL/redirect? (6 posts)

I've done several searches and it doesn't appear anyone else is wanting to do this - or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
I'm building a new website with WordPress for our blog and CMS. Currently we have several specific URLs for areas of our website, i.e. http://www.encounterthis.com/band http://www.encounterthis.com/momentum http://www.encounterthis.com/podcast
Basically directories with separate index.html files for different areas of our site to make access and sharing easier.
I'd like to do something similar with our new site (currently testing/building at http://www.encounterthis.com/new2008) where http://www.encounterthis.com/band takes you to the band category or a specific page. Anyone have a workaround or ideas on how to accomplish this other than simply putting a redirect on an index file in the directories?

I use the "Redirection" plugin: http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/redirection/

It sort of automatically creates 301s for any pages you want to redirect, and keeps a log of the number of times it's redirected. Works really well.

Just keep in mind that the redirect won't work until you delete the old page. Took me a bit to figure that out.

Search through the plugin directory, I can't remember the name but there's a great redirection plugin. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll have a look.

    Edit - Just found it .. permalink_redirect-0.8.1

I forgot to say that it works a treat. Have a look on my Gadget Blog.

    I guess I'm missing something.
I'm trying this in the 2nd box on the options page (Path pairs to redirect from and to)

    http://www.encounterthis.com/new2008/band http://www.encounterthis.com/new2008/?page_id=13

(there's a space between the two urls)
