Support » Fixing WordPress » Specific Posts on Homepage?

  • Hello WordPress World!

I am building a wordpress website. It will have a standard set of pages. e.g About Us, Products, Contact, Blog. All easy so far.

On my home page I would like some specific posts to appear, but I don’t want every post to appear.

How do I make just certain posts appear on my homepage? but also keep a blog page where all the other posts appear?

Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays – gives me the option of making my homepage display “Your latest posts” or to make my homepage static and then to specify a particular page to be the Blog page.

So you can see what I want is a hybrid of the two. Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance.

  • You can install this plugin and exclude every category from showing on the home page except for the one you want, while having all your posts show in the archive (or you can have them hidden from there, too, if you want).

    Hi Patrick Nommensen

    Thanks for replying.

I looked at the ACE plugin you recommended, but other WordPress Users are saying its broken for WordPress ver 3.5 and above. 🙁

Sure, if you don’t want to custom code your theme files there are other plugins available. I’d recommend searching the WordPress Plugin repository here.

Yes I understand that you can always hand craft your PHP to get it to do exactly whatever you need.

And that Plugins have a tendency to make developers lazy. But it in the interests of saving time, you must agree that it’s great to be able to simply install a plugin.

Thanks once again for your input, Patrick, I appreciate your help. I will check out the second plugin you’ve recommended. Thank you 🙂
