(I can’t include a link because the post keeps disappearing.)

Three times now I’ve had to repost a specific post and every time, the next day, it’s gone! When I look into my staging site, which is not public, it’s always there.

For some reason WordPress is deleting that post and only that post. Or someone is hacking my website to delete that post and only that post!

There are security measures on my site that are supposed to stop that kind of activity, but they don’t seem to be working. They are:

    • Backend access restricted by IP in .htaccess, cloud firewall, UFW, and plugin iQ Block Country.
    • Manual captcha for all visitors to the backend.
    • OTP 2FA required to login to wp-admin.

I hope this is the correct place to post this as I’m now perplexed.

I recently did a malware scan and couldn’t find anything and I’ve reinstalled WordPress 6.0.2. I also installed the plugin WP Control and couldn’t find any cron jobs that might be deleting the post.

Again, it’s one specific post and no others!

    Can someone help please?
    Thank you.

    Update

I just logged in to run an additional malware scan with the plugin NinjaScanner. While that’s in progress I decided to verify the post is still there in my staging site and it is not!

Since my staging site is not indexed, and unless someone has somehow found out about it by hacking my live site, it could be that this is an internal WordPress problem.

I’m going to post the missing post again for the fourth time on the live site and the staging site and mark it as Sticky like I always do.

By tomorrow, I will be able to tell everyone if it has disappeared for the fourth time. (Again, it is only this specific post that keeps disappearing. None other.)

Pay attention to the ID that the post gets. You could check if it is in the posts table before and after. If it is completely gone there, then the post was indeed deleted by some means. If the ID is still there, but you don’t see the post in the backend and frontend, then it is hidden in some way.

Thanks everyone. Because it’s an important post, I simply changed it to a page, added it to the primary navigation, and it’s still there.

I have a ton of work to do…

    Thanks again.
