Special Counters (4 posts)

    Hello everyone.

I am a mechanical engineer in the energy conservation business. I help manufacturers save energy by re-engineering various systems.

I was thinking about inserting a counter of some kind using actual values from my compressed air projects (www.virginiacompressors.com) that will continuously tick the amount of kilo-watt hours I have saved them. Sounds difficult but it's a pretty straight forward thing. You just multiply time by a fixed value that I determine and input and the result is displayed continously on my homepage.

Any ideas how I could do this?

This can be done quite easily using JavaScript there are many scripts online try googling "count up javascript"

I'm not sure any are what you really want though because you want the counter to start from a value based on the time you started helping the manufacturer and you want it to increment by a custom amount. I presume you want this to look like a real electricity meter?

Thanks tomontoast this helps a lot!

It doesn't have to look like anything really. I am more interested in the number.

    Thanks again!

I've found this script. It looks quite good except doesn't run on IE6 http://gavcode.wordpress.com/2008/04/07/cssjavascript-animated-odometer/
