Special character (umlaut) at beginning of field

    I’m having trouble importing special characters (umlauts) when they are at the beginning of a field.

    I’m pretty sure it’s not an charset issue, since I’m using UTF-8 all the way (LibreOffice on Linux), I’ve triple checked the csv file encoding, and special characters inside all fields (lots of German text there with umlauts, ß, fancy typography and whatnot) import just fine — except for the very first character in a cell / field: if it’s an umlautal character, it gets tossed.

    Does anybody have an idea what’s going on there and how I could fix it?
