# Span and Paragraph Behavior

 * I have inherited a website that uses SPAN to put a box around something to be
   emphasized in a page. When I use a Paragraph, <P, or a line break, <br, I get
   unexpected behavior. This is in classic mode.
 * If I use a P then the rest of the text seems to get broken out of the SPAN and
   thus outside the box. I am using P to get a double space between text.
 * If I try and use br, then I get a single space. If I use two then WordPress seems
   to interpret that as a P and the text gets broken out of the box.
 * I am not sure if this is theme behavior, WordPress behavior or HTML behavior.
   Can someone explain this? I find the br behavior especially puzzling.
