Spammers targeting WordPress sites (2 posts)

Just wanted to give folks a heads up that there are some spammers targeting WordPress sites. My wife's site has WordPress and we love it. Someone sent an email to us showing a from address of wordpress@sugarlandliving.com (my wife's domain) and stated taht a comment for a post (which does exist in WordPress) was awaiting review and offered a link. Then it had several other links to follow....guessing I shouldn't provide them here as I don't know what will happen once you get to that site. Looking in the WordPress account, I didn't see that any comments were posted, and didn't expect any as they were turned off.

You should get a bit more familiar with the tool you are using before posting...

That's a usual NOTIFICATION about comments in moderation. It was sent by your own blog (wife's blog), not by "somebody". It is set up like that in your own admin panel: Options > Discussion.

You can safely click on the link that says something like "mark this as spam" - it will take yoou to the blog's admin panel.

The comments fro moderation should be in the Manage > Moderation.
If they are not there, see the Comments section.

Are you using any kind of spam protection plugins?
