I’m getting spam registrations even with reCAPTCHA enabled. The “Anyone can register” setting (WordPress settings) seems the obvious culprit. Also have brute-force settings enabled in iThemes Security. How can I use this plugin if it requires “Anyone can register”??

  • Another problem — I added some registration security by turning on “Email confirmation to login”. PROBLEM: the “Please click on this verification link” in the email is not clickable! Users won’t settle for this.

Developers: Your “Email confirmation” text is missing an anchor tag !
Please click on this verification link {{home_url}}/wp-login.php?ur_token={{email_token}} to confirm registration.

    Hello @vdugar,

Can you please share the source of spams? With what email addresses the spam users are registered? Note that even with google reCaptcha enabled, users can register with https://example.com/wp-login.php?action=register. Some email providers disable the links for suspicious looking emails. And yes, You can add the hyperlink to the email from User Registration->Settings->Emails->Email Confirmation->Email Content.

Examples of spam emails: deniceglew86 jerekirchner4 regantapp470 (not sure how this helps you). Anyway, I started using WPS Hide Login plugin — hoping this will help.
