Love this plugin, but having a frustrating problem with spam.

For my use case, general users don’t need the URL field, and it’s therefore turned off at all times. Spam bots use the field regardless since it’s only hidden however, so I think a simple solution would be to add a toggleable option to auto-delete any new entries that contain URLs when they’re disabled.

Additionally, it seems the bad-words filter only deletes bad words rather than removing the entire post that contained them. If an option to delete posts that contain certain bad-words were added, I think users could manage spam better. And lastly, I’m not sure the bad-words filter is working properly for URLs. The majority of the spam bots I’ve encountered have had the acronym “CBD” in their URL field, but adding that to the bad-worlds filter (without any spaces) didn’t seem to do anything.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will take a closer look and see about possibly implementing some of these ideas. Lots of good stuff here, really appreciate you taking the time to share. Feel free to post again with any further feedback, etc. Glad to help anytime.

    That’s a good idea..

We discussed something similar in my other post, about removing bad links.
I added a tweak to make visitors login to use the chat, it’s nice, does the job,
I’d prefer visitors to see the chat and use it, but not spam it with dirty urls.
