 * Hi 🙂
 * i have an old version of WP 1.5 from some years. on a windows server.
    no problems.
 * but from 1 month i found a very strange problem:
    each 7-10 days i find this
   file wp-content//themes/my-theme/header.php modified with a lot of spam-links(
   to russian websites)
 * pleasew can you give me info about a solution?
    how i can find a solution (without
   upgrade all WP)?
 * i hope you can help me 🙂
 * thanks

 * Upgrade.
 * I mean, at the best case, you’ve been hacked, and at the worst, it’s a server
   compromise. Either way, you’re using an ancient, known-to-have-security-holes,
   version of a product.

 * Hi Ipstenu,
 * thanks for your fast message.
 * yes, i know: upgrade can be a good solution.
    but i’m reading a lot of similar
   problems also for last versions!
 * it’s possibile a “good” solution (also witouht upgrade)?
    where is exactly the
   bug for this problem?

 * It’s not a bug. It’s called ‘you’re using an ancient, known-to-have-security-
   holes, version of a product.’ It’s not a secure version of WordPress, it has
   security holes. Someone took advantage of it. You can try the directions here
   [http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked)
   but you still should upgrade.
 * Consider learning about hardening WordPress, as well as your server, which is
   also a common vector for these things.

 * UPDATE:
 * i find the problem!
    i changed server …and i never set again file/folder permissions!
 * i did:
    – set file/folder permissions – changed admin password
 * now, withuot upgrade WP (i use still an old version), there are not problems!
