Support » Plugin: Contact Form by WPForms - Drag & Drop Form Builder for WordPress » Spam levels have gone through the roof

  • I had WP Forms (the free version) installed on about 20 sites. They had different hosts, themes and security plugins (some premium security, some free). In the past 4 months, across the board, I’ve had a massive increase in spam.

Each time we’d make sure the sites were updated; we reloaded the recaptcha’s several times and would even remake the forms. Would still get 3-4 spam emails through them per day and complaints from clients.

So we’ve had to disable all of them and choose another option. Check carefully that you aren’t getting heaps of spam!

    Hi @halomedia,

Thank you for the honest feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that you’ve encountered spam issues.

In case it helps to share, if you’re still having spam with reCAPTCHA enabled, you can consider increasing security level of the reCAPTCHA integration on your site by going to your reCAPTCHA account.

Then in the settings of your current integration, you can go to Security Preference and adjust its slider.

If you’d prefer not to use Google’s reCAPTCHA, you can consider the following third-party plugins to protect your forms against spam such as WordPress Zero Spam or Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk which work out of the box to protect your forms against spam.

And if you’d like more help with using WPForms Lite, please feel free to post in our WPForms Lite support forum.

    Thanks!
