We’re seeing about 5-6 spam messages slip through each day. We’re using v2, it all seems to work, tested trying to submit w/o solving the captcha and those were blocked. We store the entries in a db (“Advanced CF7 DB”) as well, so I have a record of all of them. Most are yandex.com and in Russian.

Latest version of your plugin and 5.1.3 for CF7 as we’re a bit nervous about 5.1.4 given the issues posted in their forum.

I’m just sort of assuming that people are manually solving to send spam, but thought I’d ask for some general input.

    Hello,

It’s difficult to say how or why this is happening. If there is a hole in the plugin bots are getting through, we can’t replicate it. Cross-browser, JavaScript disabled, Mobile, it seems to pass the basic tests. To eliminate the possibly of bots maybe you can combine our plugin with the Contact Form 7 Honeypot plugin which is meant to “trick” bots. If the honeypot plugin is installed and you continue to get trickling spam submissions then it’s probably manual submissions.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our plugin. Should you find any flaws in the submission process or validation process please let us know and we can look into patching it.

We’ll leave this thread open for a bit to see if there’s any community input on the issue. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

I’m not even convinced at all that anything is leaking, for all I know there’s some cubicle farm in Latvia or India just manually solving captchas. Why? Who knows, the form goes to internal sales people who are not the target audience.

Doing manual testing I see no leaks…
