I am receiving spam messages from my wordpress.org blog http://www.ea3hoe.net. The articles don’t get posted on the blog i just receive the e-mail notification as if i was posting a new article. SMTP is enabled on the server but not on the blog. E-mail publishing is switched off as well.
This is a blog hosted by an ISP, so no personal server. Askimet is up to date and there is nothing in my spam queue.
In my stats i can see that i am creating articles (which i’m not), but i cannot see those articles on my blog.
Nothing really serious because nobody is actually following me, so i only get the messages myself, but what can be the reason why this suddenly occurs?

  • Hello, toontje, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Firstly, thank you *so much* for providing your url–you have absolutely no idea how helpful that is.

I’m seeing this toward the bottom of your page while viewing the source. I hate to say this, but I have some serious concerns regarding the integrity of this site, i.e., that it may be compromised.
"362 [redacted - please don't post bad code here] "

You should likely look on your dashboard to see if perchance there are users you don’t recognize & delete them. I would also advise changing your dashboard, your hosting provider control panel, & your database passwords–don’t forget to update the latter in your wp-config.php file.

Having said all that, I do think it advisable that, given what you’re seeing, you examine this site to ensure it isn’t compromised or have a professional do that for you.

    73.
