 * I’m averaging about 40 new spam comments per day. Is there any real way of combating
   all of these messages?

 * Besides the spam comment protection plugin that already comes with WP I also 
   use [Bad Behavior](http://www.homelandstupidity.us/software/bad-behavior/)
