 * Hi there,
 * I’ve recently noticed that in many of my WordPress site’s pages, there’s a lot
   of spam code that’s somehow found its way amongst my content.
 * Could anyone shed some light on how this has happened, how I can reverse it and
   moving forward, how I might prevent it?
 * The site is [http://www.rapnews.co.uk](http://www.rapnews.co.uk) and an example
   of an affected page is [http://rapnews.co.uk/?p=1170](http://rapnews.co.uk/?p=1170)
   where there are lots of gaps of invisible content that’s clickable.
 * Many thanks for your time.

 * Thanks for getting back to me. A scan has revealed that indeed I’ve been hacked/
   have Malware 🙁
 * I am not very technical at all and it doesn’t seem like any of the plugins clean
   things up for free. Would you advise I hire someone to sort this?
 * Thanks again.

 * So I ran a highly rated malware cleaning plugin and it sure did clean up the
   site, in that it’s deleted a huge number of posts :/ I’m guessing that those
   posts and their contents are lost forever?
 * Some of it was of real historic value…
 * If my web hosting company has a backup of the site, would a restore to last week
   fix this, do you know? Or is that content lost forever?
 * Thanks,
    Tony.

 * Unfortunately a plugin cannot resolve a hacked installation for you. Plugins
   are stupid, you need a human to tell you whether code is malicious. It also sounds
   like the plugin only removes the symptom of the hack, which is a common misunderstanding
   of resolving a compromised installation. This will only make it appear as though
   you aren’t hacked, while leaving a backdoor open so that the hacker can waltz
   back in.
 * If you’re not technical I would advise hiring a reputable organisation to resolve
   this for you.
