# Spacing between sidebar widgets

 * Noob in need! I’ve tried adjusting my Themes CSS but I can’t seem to figure out
   how to adjust the spacing between widgets in my sidebar. The gaps between the
   different items is too large and I would also like to reduce the line spacing,
   say, between categories as well as between category names and whatever’s listed
   below them. Please advise, if you can for:

 * Also, I think I’m updating my CSS correctly but can you also help as well? Editing
   CSS would be under Appearance>Editor>Stylesheet

 * Well, this is controlling it:
 *     ```
       #zephyr-widget-sidebar li {
         margin: 20px 20px 30px;
         padding: 60px 20px 30px;
       }
       ```
   
 * If you put that into your child theme’s CSS file and change the values to what

 * Thank you MarkRH! Once again, I’m a total noob! I entered what you provided above
   and then modified the values of the margin and padding and saw no difference 
   after updating the file. Is there something else I’m not doing? Your link to 
   the child theme was the same as to the padding theme.

 * Doh! Child themes: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)
 * I notice a change. The CSS is now:
 *     ```
       #zephyr-widget-sidebar li {
         margin: 1px;
         padding: 100px;
       }
       ```
   
 * My browser is seeing this:
 *     ```
       @import "css/zephyr.css";
       #zephyr-widget-sidebar li {
           margin: 1px;
           padding: 100px;
       }
       ```
   
 * Need to change that padding 100px value to 1px or 5px or something less.
 * If you don’t notice a change, may need to force refresh your browser to load 
   the new CSS file.
