• Hi everyone.

I’m interested in downloading wordpress on my host for my company website. My ideal blog would need over 500 pages. Is it possible to get an estimate from any of the knowledgeable folks here about how much space would be required say I have about a hundred views per day? What about a thousand later on?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance,

    Marc K.

  • It’s not views that need space. It’s how many pictures, images, or other media you will upload in each of those 500 pages. In theory what you describe could take much less than 50mb but it’s hard to say. It’s how many other plugins you install and what they could do to MySQL database requirements. It’s how many themes you would download and use.

    Thanks for your quick response.

Let’s say it’s only text and I only want one theme.

Also let’s say I added some plugins to restrict access to different secitions of my blog. ex. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-access-manager/ and http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/peters-login-redirect/.

Could we be safe to say that it will be under a certain amount of space required?

For example do we know how much space is required for a simple page with only text? A simple post?

    Thanks enormously,

    Marc K.

You should be okay. A simple page and/or post will just add a record to the wp_posts table in your database. Now if you edit that post or page 10,000 times, then there will be 10,000 revision records.

Have you tried just installing WordPress and writing a couple of posts, installing your theme, installing your plugins? Then check with your host to see the disk usage. If necessary, find a new host if they don’t cooperate.
