 * I have noticed that a space is inserted after the footnote reference number when
   it is displayed in a post. This poses a problem if the footnote is at the end
   of a sentence but is before a period.
 * Example: `This is a sentence[ref]some text[/ref].` (this is how I have formatted
   a footnote that comes just before a period). But the generated reference number
   displays as `[1] .` (notice the space before the period).
 * Is there a way to eliminate the space after the reference numbers?
 * Thanks!

 * Well, perhaps this isn’t an issue after all. According to [The Chicago Manual of Style](http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/qanda/data/faq/topics/Punctuation/faq0020.html):
 * > “A note number should generally be placed at the end of a sentence or at the
   > end of a clause. The number normally follows a quotation (whether it is run
   > into the text or set as an extract). Relative to other punctuation, the number
   > follows any punctuation mark except for the dash, which it precedes.”
 * That being the case, the remaining space may not be a problem since there is
   normally a space after a period at the end of sentence. I’ll just have to ensure
   that my clients properly place the footnote after the periods.

 * I’m marking this as resolved since it wasn’t actually a problem with the plugin
   but was just a misunderstanding on where the footnote numbers should appear in
   relation to the end of a sentence.
