You are the second person in the last 24 hours to mention Siteground and demonstrate that their support is terrible.

    The pages says:

The page you are trying to access is restricted due to a security rule.

    Emphasis mine.

    The security rule is theirs.

If they knew what they were doing they would have a log for their firewall telling them exactly why it was blocked.

If I were to guess, I’d say it’s triggered by the words “file-view” in the URL. Change “view” to “edit” and see for yourself that the rule is bypassed.

Insist that they actually address the issue you are having with the server you pay for rather than send you to free plugin support.

Our representative on Chat is not the person to go through security logs, that’s why they have opened a ticket for you. That ticket is handled by the support team which have located the security rule triggered and will add the appropriate rule to disable it for your site.

    I’m glad this is fixed.

@hristo-sg I have received hundreds of reports of errors that are due to security rules. Not just your hosting company, but others. I spend hours each week fielding these issues.

You should produce a set of security rules that are suited to a back office like WordPress. Viewing a file (like in this example) seems like a pretty likely thing to want to do. WordPress has an authentication system to protect pages under wp-admin, so why block administrative functions and cause users headaches?
