source= and reading_plan= not working with single quotes

Shortcode with these keywords only work when using double quotes.

All documentation says to use single quotes in the examples.

Unable to test source=”ABS” with version= as there is never any scriptures displayed – only chapter names are displayed.

Registered and entered the American Bible Society Access Key only at this time.

(After using double quotes the plan and source change, then it seems to work with single quotes for a while, then it won’t work with single quotes again until you use double quotes again).

Still no scriptures get displayed using any combination of keywords in the shortcode with American Bible Society Access Key only.

I replaced the single quotes that I got when copy/pasting the shortcode from your details page, and used the single quote from my keyboard. It’s working. Must be a font charset codepage difference from this website that is using a different single quote.

CopyPaste directly from this website plugin details page:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bible-reading-plans/
    [bible-reading-plan reading_plan=’mcheyne’ source=’DBP’ version=’ESV’]

    From my keyboard:
    [bible-reading-plan reading_plan=’mcheyne’ source=’DBP’ version=’ESV’]

I am still getting no scriptures using the following shortcodes:
    [bible-reading-plan reading_plan=’mcheyne’ version=’ASV’ source=’ABS’]
    [bible-reading-plan reading_plan=’mcheyne’ source=’ABS’]

(Only the American Bible Society Access Key is active in the plugin. I can’t test using source=’DBP’ as the Digital Bible Platform Access Key hasn’t been issued yet – probably due to a long holiday weekend).

    Page with issue: https://covenantmessenger.org/bible-reading-plan/

After pasting in the shortcodes above, this WP Support website, changed the single quotes. It’s this website causing issues copying or pasting the shortcode with single quotes.

Said another way, this very website “wordpress.org” is the source of the invalid single quotes. If someone copies the shortcode from this websites Detalis page or Installation page into their website they will have invalid single quotes in their shortcode for the Bible Reading Plans plugin.

Aha! So wordpress.org replaces single quotes with apostrophes. 🙁

Thanks for drawing this to my attention.

I’ll work out a way to fix this.

It could be, however, that you need to use the block for shortcodes in the Gutenberg Editor…

It will likely be late this week at least before I have time to do much work on this.

Issue happens when copying shortcode from wordpress.org to notepad also. Just letting you know where the wrong quote came from, in case it happens to others.
