Sorting on custom fields

    I would like to sort on two custom fields — one is a numeric date and one is a company name. I would also like to restrict results to a subset of categories. What is the best way to achieve this in the most recent version of WordPress? I have googled this and searched these forums, but many of the answers are years old.

    Yes you can use a category plugin.

    Thanks, I have searched through plugins–is there one you would recommend that has been tested for this version of wordpress and is still being supported?

    I am also fine with a php/code solution, if anyone has recommendations.
