  • Hi Jack,

I think you might be having the same problem I am. If the book or article is part of a collection they may be classed as “editors” and in that case they just appear at the beginning of the biblio instead of sorting with the authors.

    Katie,
Is there a way to make it so that the “editors” and “presenter” categories (and any other that are = to an author) sort in with those classed as “authors”? Zotero usually does this automatically when you make a bibliography I believe.

    Thanks!

Katie, I should clarify that sortby=”author” is not working in ZotPress 5.0.4 (as I posted above), but continues to work just fine in ZotPress 4.5.4. For an example of the latter, go to:
    http://commons.trincoll.edu/cssp/research/

scroll down about one-third of the page to the section labeled “Listed in alphabetical order”

The ZotPress 4.5.4 shortcode I’m using to create this alphabetical sort by author is:
    [zotpress collection="M7AGPJ4D" style=chicago-fullnote-bibliography sortby="author" sort=asc]

Any reason why it’s working in 4.5.4, but not in 5.0.4?

@lizthompson07 I think you’re spot on. If there is no “author” then it’s recorded as “null” and sorted to the top. What I’ll do is fill in the “author” field with any non-authors if it’s blank.

@jackdougherty The reason it’s working in 4.5.4 and not 5.0.4 is because it’s being sorted on the Zotpress end instead of the Zotero end now. Still a few bugs to work out, it seems. 🙂

Thanks, Katie, for fixing this so quickly in 5.0.5.

Note that after upgrading from 5.0.4, I had to re-import the Zotero account to make my citations display correctly.
