Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Sort Orders by Shipping Zone

    Scenario:

    Fruit & Veg Box Delivery Company delivers to certain locations on certain days.

    Locations are determined by postal code (UK).

    The customer searches their postcode to:
    a) find out if Fruit and Veg can be delivered to their area, and;
    b) what day their delivery will arrive.

    Currently the postcode match service is third party.

    Shipping Zones can be limited to specific postcodes, exporting orders by shipping zone would mean quick and easy allocation of delivery drivers. Do you have any scenarios similar to this that function or advice on how to work around this?

    Hey @ehlanafoley!

    If you set up Shipping Zones by postcode, each zone can be set up with uniquely named shipping methods that are associated to the corresponding zones. That would allow you to sort order exports by the shipping_method column and divide the orders amongst the drivers.

    You could even include the delivery days in the name of shipping methods as well, like “Zone 1 – Delivery on Mon, Wed, & Fri”.

    Thanks for your response, I couldn’t quite figure out how to set a custom shipping method as there are only 3 available as standard but have now found something that meets my requirements and believe I will be able to export this way!

    I unfortunately now can’t un-resolve this, how would I display the shipping method in the order columns?

    Hey @ehlanafoley!

    To display shipping methods on the Orders page (in their own column), you’d either need a plugin (like this example) or custom coding (as explained here).
