    Hi!
I’m working with this plug-in in the last time and I have the following problem:
sometimes it works like a charme and the pdf is loaded instantly, sometimes nothing appears and I have to reload the page. What can be the problem? Google docs? Server? Other? No idea…

    Thanks! πŸ˜€

  • I’m having the same problem. My main issue seems to be on my archive pages. I have my archives set to display the full post – but the embedded pdf doesn’t show up. When I click through from the archive to the actual post, it does show up.

I have a different page with multiple embedded pdfs, and they don’t always show up.

    Thanks for your reply.

This is the archive page, se to show post content – but the pdf does not load:
    https://neonatalnutritionnetwork.org/category/member-resources/

This is an example of a page with multiple pdfs – often only a couple of them load:
    https://neonatalnutritionnetwork.org/n3-events/

I am testing this on windows 10 google chrome and Microsoft edge browsers and getting the same issues

    Many thanks

PS – sometimes the pdfs do load fine, and generally if they are blank and you refresh the page they will load. But approx 50% of the time they just show a blank space on intial page load.

I wonder if it is a browser/cache issue?

    Hi,

I’be just installed the plugin on another new WordPress website and am having the same issue:

    https://sharonbailey.co.uk/home-alone-tour/

The first time I load the page up, 2 pdfs show in the RH column. When I navigate to a different page and then revisit the page, one or no pdfs display….

Hi, I’ve tried to submit a support ticket on your website but it doesn’t seem to go through.
I’m using the free version of Embed any document – do you offer support for this?

    Hi there,

Just following up on this issue of pdfs not loading after the foirst page visit, the same issue occurs with your plugin demo:
    http://preview.codecanyon.net/item/embed-any-document-plus-wordpress-plugin/full_screen_preview/9911763?_ga=2.233099742.1374694255.1584015581-305177055.1563545820

When I return to the page after the first visit, the embedded pdf (document 2) does not display.

I have the same issue when viewing with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Any help would be appreciated as I would really like to buy the pro version of the this plugin and use it on a few sites, but only if it displays reliably.
    Many thanks

I have the same problem. I want to like this plugin but it is unreliable in 50% of all page loads. Even with local pdfs πŸ™

    Hi,

    Hi Claudio,

I am sorry for the trouble. Google Docs Viewer is notorious for the stability issues, especially for the documents that are hosted elsewhere! Did you try Microsoft Office Viewer? It should be stable and more user-friendly for all the Office files (No PDF support).

When using the Plus version, we recommend two solutions for stability.

    • Use Google Drive to host your files – We have hardly seen any downtime for the documents that are embedded from Google Drive.
    • Use Box.com – Box.com has its own viewer. It’s super stable and also comes with various privacy settings.

Otherwise, nothing much we can do in this case. Hope you understand.
Please let me know if you need any other help.

    Regards,

Unfortunately this is not an option. I have many PDFs within wordpress which I want to show with a shortcode that uses the PDF-URL. The local files are small, available and the server has enough power.

I would have bought the pro version but even in your pro version demo, the PDF display does not work properly in most cases. There is a bug in place and it would be so cool if it could be fixed at some point.

Until then I fear I have to use another plugin.

When I try to use the plugin with Word doc loaded from media library, all I see are error messages saying the file is not found.. Are you aware that the Microsoft viewer used by this plugin is no longer available? So, it’s not possible to upload Word documents and view them from the Microsoft viewer? It looks like the viewer was switched out for another. Can you fix the plugin so it can be used with Word documents please? Thank you

The Microsoft Word Viewer is no longer available for download and will no longer receive security updates. To continue viewing Word files for free, we recommend installing the Word mobile app or storing documents in OneDrive or Dropbox, where Word Online opens them in your browser.

For the Word mobile app, visit the store for your device:
    Google Play
    iTunes
    Microsoft Store

@ldigregorio ‘Microsoft Office Word Viewer’ and ‘Microsoft Office Online Viewer’ are entirely different products. Microsoft Office Word Viewer was a free desktop application to view Office Documents. ‘Microsoft Office Online Viewer’ is a cloud service that let you preview your document when the document is available in a publically accessible URL.

As you mentioned in the thread, ‘Microsoft Office Word Viewer’ is discontinued but the ‘Office Online Viewer’ is still available as a cloud service and working just fine.

The Office Online Viewer returns ‘file not found’ error when the file you are trying to embed is not publically available or blocked by a firewall as Cloudflare has. We might be able to find the issue and advise you a solution if you could share the URL to the page you have tried to embed the file.

Yes. Please look at thus url.
