• I’ve seen a few topics on this in forums but sadly, none of them were able to help.

I get this error message when I try accessing my homepage:

Warning: require(/home/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/growandp/public_html/naughtywhispers/wp-settings.php on line 117

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/wp-includes/compat.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/growandp/public_html/naughtywhispers/wp-settings.php on line 117

and when I try accessing admin, I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 446

I realize it’s an old widget file that I probably tried installing, however, I have since deleted the folder, deleted wordpress ENTIRELY, deleted EVERYTHING from the folder, reinstalled wordpress only to receive the same errors.

In resolved threads, users would just delete the “widgets” folder and everything was fine, in my case, I deleted absolutely everything and there’s still a problem!

I don’t understand, someone help please!!!

Holy mother! I just figured out the cause of all of this… I was using IE this entire time, and I cleared my cache….

    how stupid is that!

    nm. he resolved it.

Same error here. Per the installation instructions step 5 I browsed to /wp-admin/install.php and got this message:

Warning: require(/home/content/p/h/a/phatstanley/html/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/p/h/a/phatstanley/html/wp-settings.php on line 117

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/content/p/h/a/phatstanley/html/wp-includes/compat.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/p/h/a/phatstanley/html/wp-settings.php on line 117

I cleared the cache and it did nothing, and I’m using Firefox.
