    I've spent ALLLLL night reading about the white screen of death after experiencing it first hand and not being able to log in.

    I reinstalled wordpress (which deleted my site -__-) and had to rebuild. After reading how to back up my site it is currently backed up! \o/

    HOWEVER (the problems)
    1.I cannot log out- whenever I try I get a white screen
    2. Since I cannot log out I can't see how my site looks to visitors (I'm using google chrome) so I visited via firefox and IT WAS BLANK!!! :(
    3. I'm still getting random white pages when I edit my site- although the edits and changes are being made and I'm having to use the back button to get back to dashboard/content/etc

    I'm not a wordpress pro and REALLY need help from you WP geniuses!!

    thanks

    First thing: enable WP_DEBUG, and report any Fatal Errors that are being generated.

    how do I enable WP_DEBUG?

    You need to find the wp-config.php file in the root install directory for WordPress. Open it using the text editor of your choice, and find the following line:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG', false );

    ...change it to:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

    Yes: in the WordPress root install directory.

    That's a question only you can answer... where did you install WordPress?

    Thanks Chip for the advice above.

    After desperately trying to find a solution to the sudden WSOD on my wordpress site, I am relieved that the solution you gave above lead me to figuring out what was wrong and fixing it. Now my site is back up!

    Thanks Chip, you are the best!
