• I need to backup/clone my site. I’m planning to change hosts.

I install Duplicator Plugin, however got the following test results:

‘The version of PHP on this server is [5.2.16]. The Duplicator requires at least PHP version 5.2.17+ on this server. Please contact your host and have them upgrade to this stable secure version if the test fails. “

My current host just said, do it manually through WordPress and thats the last I’ve heard from them.

So, starting from scratch, how am I going to do this move?

  • Well you could back it up from scratch as your host said. All you need to do, is connect via FTP and download all your files.

If you want to use a plugin, you could give Backwpup a go.

Thanks Christine – the Host actually meant that I update PHP myself – I would have thought that the server was their responsibilty, especially as they don’t have a facility to update on their version of Cpanel.

I noticed that Backwpup hasn’t been ugraded in over 2 years, is this significant? I’m a bear-of-little-brain in these matters.

Bah! I agree as well. I’ve never upgraded PHP myself and wouldn’t know how to do that.

You must have looked at a different link.

I use Backwpup on over 50 sites and it’s really good.
