• I don’t really know if this is the place for making such or so. So sorry, if the post ends up being post in the wrong section or so, anyways.

Some of these suggestions are available as extended plug-ins that I know but still, having some of it in WP from the start makes WP only more powerful.

There are small, very small functionalities that really are useful and would be nice if this futures could get implanted in coming versions of WP.

1- Implant font sizing (image or text based clickable) into a widget. Also options for the overall font size to be set to whatever value.

2- Implant print (clickable text and/or text only) in posts, obviously some options for such into the admin panel for it as well.

3- Implant tagging (cloud) for tagging posts with. (widget for it) As it is now a post can be in 1-3 categories sometimes but can belong to 15 tags. Tagging is possible by crating and using different categories but that just feels like a cheap “trick”.

4- A contact form really, is needed badly, implantation of such would really be nice.

5- Better or more functional pages for user. User profiles with uploading of pictures functionality, registered user (admin, authors, subscribers, etc). Doesn’t need to be fancy but informative. Eg, when someone visits another user profile he should get some of the resent comments, posts etc, simple stats showed for that use, with some information and avatar, etc.

6- If 5 get implanted then having user avatars for posts or comments would be the ultimate thing.

7- Subscribe functionality for posts or comments.

8- Quoting in from posts when posting a comment, and the function so one can quote the comment its self. This would take some posts to a real level of discussion.

    Thanks for reading.

  • All of those probably already exist with plugins:

Good thing that you did read

“Some of these suggestions are available as extended plug-ins that I know but still, having some of it in WP from the start makes WP only more powerful.”

blah blah .. one more post suggesting that this or that ought to be built into the core.

Like Mike said, all that is covered by plugins, and for GOOD reason. What you think is needed, isn’t necessarily what I think is needed. Plain and simple.

The devs are making a blog, and making one well, and THANK GOD they dont let posts like this interfere with that process.

No reason for getting jumpy! 🙂 Why wouldn’t someone not want a contact from? As it is, I doubt each and everyone usage each and every function included in WP as it is and expanding it with more useful for all type of usages was the main point not making it easier for “me and I”.

I think you are missing the point Aypeus.

    Think of it this way;

You walk into an unfinished furniture store and see a wonder well built solid wood coffee table and you think I can’t wait to get it home stain it and put 10 coats of varnish on to protect it.

Someone else thinks I can’t wait to get it home batter the hell out of it, give it a coat of oil and make it look like something my great grandmother owned.

If the piece was sold with either of those customizations it would limit it’s base of users.

Similarly WordPress is used for everything from pregnancy journals to art studios to political punditing.

A customization which seems perfectly legitimate and sensible to you could be a deal breaker to someone else.

So think of WordPress as the perfect unfinished piece of furniture just waiting for you to customize it to your needs.

What you think is needed, isn’t necessarily what I think is needed.

And considering how different plugins work may solve issues better for some people compared to others.

Why wouldn’t someone not want a contact from?

Why would they want one? I don’t have one on my blog, will never have one again, and considering when I had it, it got flooded by folks demanding (not asking) help for their software even though they missed the “By sending me email and asking a question about software, you agree to pay me $85. No exceptions.” that was up there.

edit: Oh wait. I answered a question. Oops.

edit #2: Suggestions should probably go here: http://trac.wordpress.org by the way.

I’m old school. Word to your PHP processor and all that. 🙂
