    So,

I have a persistent problem: some of my subscribers are getting two copies of the same
post notification and some of them actually three! One of them told me that this doubling started in the moment when he bought a book from me. But another one gets three copies despite the fact that he never bought anything.

I just switched my e-mail service provider to Pepipost and nothing changed. So there is a serious problem in the database itself. But I cannot see any double contacts in my audience and I have just one single distribution list “Public”.

Please help, this needs to stop. Is it possible that there are some “invisible” duplicate contacts in the database?

    Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience you had.

Did you setup Post Notification? Are they receiving the same email?

Which version of Email Subscribers & WordPress are you using?

Oh, yes. All of them are receiving the same notification.

I am using 4.4.0. A year ago, when the rather unfortunate transition between versions 3 and 4 took place, I had major problems with my contact list

I have a suspicion that there are “invisible” contacts in my database. I have called my IT administrator who can view the DB directly. He promised to get in touch with me soon.

Is it possible that some older table survives and is used?

So, we dug into the whole database. For example, one of the double receivers is both in the

    wp_es_emaillist

    and the

    wp_ig_contacts

    table.

P.S. There are timeouts in the log. They look like this:

[09-Mar-2020 12:42:57] WARNING: [pool www] child 20818, script
    ‘/var/www/html/index.php’ (request: “GET
    /index.php?es=cron&guid=jodsfq-aqhvjr-gdskvf-mqvezf-aqpbnr&self=1&_wpnonce=d0575b8a2c”)
execution timed out (342.935469 sec), terminating

I have about 3000 subscribers. I thought that with Pepipost, the sending would be a bit faster.

So I found out that there indeed were over a thousand extra lines in the table

    wp_ig_lists_contacts

which probably maps contacts to lists. Their status was “Confirmed” and not “Subscribed”. In all likelihood, they were a remnant of some earlier conversion attempt from 3.x to 4.0.

I deleted them using a SQL command and I will see what happens when the next post notification is sent.

So I have downloaded all the logs from Pepipost and it is absolutely clear that the plugin sends e-mails to some addresses twice. Even though they are just once in the database.

This looks like bug in the plugin.

    Hello,

    We’re sorry for the delay.

Could you let us know if the problem persists? There was a problem in one of our previous versions and it is already been fixed.
