I used plugin organizer for a long time. I stopped to use Plugin Organizer after the plugin WP-SpamShield issues.

Now that is fixed the problem with that plugin, I don’t use anymore WP-SpamShield and I am trying to use again Plugin Organizer.

Unfortunately I can not set “Ignore URL Protocol” and “Ignore URL Arguments”. It show that the settings are on (green) but when I press save they are not saved.

I have seen that at least an other person had the same problem but the topic was closed and no solution was posted on it.

    What could be our problem?

So you removed WP Spamshield and are running the most recent version of Plugin Organizer? Because WP Spamshield will prevent you from saving the settings unless you are running the most recent version of Plugin Organizer.

Yes Jeff, I removed WP Spamshield few days ago and I installed the last version of plugin organizer version 9.2.6.

What I can do to eliminate their damage to my site?

Have you tried disabling all plugins with plugin organizer globally and then saving the settings?

Unfortunately It took me a lot of time to understand that the bad plugin was Wp Spamshield and not your plugin. This is why I removed Wp Spamshield so late. I am sure that a lot of sites still use Wp Spamshield.

I have made some tests disabling all plugins and saving and then trying to save the setting again but the problem is even worst now. There are now more setting that I can not save anymore.

Do you have any caching that your server does? The fact that you turned off plugins and now you can’t save more settings is very confusing. It sounds like the result of the page being cached.

I have installed the new version of Plugin Organizer 9.3 and disabled WP Super Cache, the result is almost the same.

The only difference, with Plugin Organizer 9.3, is that the message text, that is displayed when I save them, now it say that the setting are set correctly. If I go back to the setting page or if I refresh the page the setting are gone like before.

WP Super Cache has been known to keep caching after it is disabled. Can you save the option and then delete your cache from WP Super Cache?

I have done it and is the same. To prevent this type of problems I use a setting on WP Super Cache that disable the use of cached page for logged in user.

Now I have done your test removing also Autoptimize cache and Siteground’s Super cache, a second level cache, and bingo, that was the cache creating this problem!

But before this morning update of Plugin Optimize, the message displayed after setting the options was saying that the setting was not set. So I think the problem was solved by 9.3 and was not only a cache problem when I wrote my support question.

    Thanks a lot
    Enrico
