• Hello guys, I have some question.

    1. When processing photos how do you make a separate processing of the 4 basic dimensions?

    2. Also, when I upload a photo how can I choose in how many sizes to be created from those that I have set in the options in media or in our item?

  • 1. You can’t. It is all carried out automtaically.

    2. Again, you can’t unless you want to start editing your theme’s functions.php file and adding in extra image sizes.

I believe that these options must be included in the next update of wordpress.

Am giving you some examples to understand what am saying.
If someone want to put a photo in the text or make a gallery of photos automatically three different sizes of the photo will be created.

That aint logical, we are waisting space in the server for no reason. A photo in a post it would have one size, so the rest of the sizes are needless. The same thing goes for the gallery, only the thumbnail is usefull and the original photo when someone clicks the thumbnail to see the photo. The rest are useless.

So, when we upload a photo, it shouldn’t create automatically various sizes the we setted, it should show us the options that it has. Then we would have the option to choose specific sizes that we want to create from the original photo.

A photo in a post it would have one size, so the rest of the sizes are needless.

For you perhaps but not for others. For example, I often post thumbnail images that lead to larger versions.

    Also,
    3. When you insert a youtube video with the option of external media, how can you can you check that all the videos you inserted are working?

We say the same thing. In a theme, the normal standards is 3 or 4 image sizes for the main photo of the post. I am talking for the internal photos and the galleries.

No. I’m talking about images I upload to a post.

In how many sizes do you make for one specific photo in a post? The normal is one thumbnail to go to larger version of the image.

Depends on the theme/site and the image. Sometimes the thumbnail leads a medium sized image which, in turn, leads to the raw full size image.

yes or if you choose Link thumbnails to: Attachment Page

but if you choose Link thumbnails to: Image File all the others sizes are unnecessary . so is better when you upload one or more photos, before inserting them into a post, we should have the option to choose one or more sizes to generate the original image size to the things we set only and not the automated creation in all sizes.

    p.s.
Do you have any idea for my third question?

but if you choose Link thumbnails to: Image File all the others sizes are unnecessary

But only for you. Not me. WordPress has to find a middle ground that suits as many people as possible and creating the extra image sizes is that middle ground. If your uploaded image is smaller than the Thumbnail dimensions in Settings -> Media, then no additional images will be created on upload.

When you insert a youtube video with the option of external media, how can you can you check that all the videos you inserted are working?

    View it on your site.

Anyway, your opinion is respected but you must understand that every site has it’s needs. The specific site that I created, I don’t want it to create the sizes that I set but to have the option for one or more photos that I upload to a post, to pick one or more sizes (from the ones that I set) to create the photos. Which is the code that I have to put in the functions.php of my theme?

As for the videos, what you are saying it ain’t easy. Because if you have many videos you can’t check each one manually. There is surely something that does all this work and tells you which video needs to be fixed. What is this something that can do all of this?
