Support » Fixing WordPress » Some Pictures just disappeared from Media Library

  • Greetings…

My website was running well, until suddenly I found that some pictures were not displaying anymore. I logged into the wordpress admin panel, and noticed that the pictures were not appearing in the media library too; which until now I haven’t found what caused that to happen. A bit of investigation and I found that the picture were still stored on the server in the dedicated wp-contents/uploads sub-folders (uploads ordered by /year/month/). I followed this help and used the mentioned plugin so that I could get them back, which I eventually got too, however the process was time consuming, and on my website I had to reset one by one all the pictures that were not displaying (for a shopping store with more than 400 products which more than half the pictures were not displaying anymore, you can imagine the frustration).

Could anyone know what might have caused this issue? a plugin malfunction perhaps? So that at least I know how to avoid it in the future. Also, does anyone know of any other solution to such a problem that would be more effective and less time consuming?

    Best Regards

  • Hi @kasgedeon, what happened if you only access the picture full url from the browser, not product page.

Hi @aliaramli, thanks for the reply. Accessing picture from the full url was working, I would see the actual image loading on a page in the browser. As I was trying to add back the pictures to the wordpress media library using the plugin I mentioned in the previous post, I noticed however that a couple of pictures had also disappear from the uploads storage; so with those I had to re-upload them back again to the website.
