Support » Networking WordPress » Some images src replaced with path from server root

  • On a few occasions while configuring my new multisite network, the images have been replaced with a path starting directly from the root of my server environment. Not the web root.

    (e.g. <img src=”/var/www/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/25…” /> )

I can’t even guess what is the cause for this bizarre behavior. The first time occurred while setting up w3 total cache. Another occurred while importing/exporting a site with backup buddy.

Again it’s only some of the images that are broken with the wrong file path. Images that work use a “…” & “/wp-content/uploads…”.

I haven’t found a work around. I’ve only been able to restore my VPS to an earlier point. I’m very new to WordPress, and I’m not sure what I can do to debug properly.

Because the problem has occured after different site changes implies they share something in common.

I guess my first question is, what could cause something like this to happen. If I knew that, I believe I’ll be better able to trouble-shoot this.

  • The same thing began happening for me not long after I had begun trying out a certain cache plugin, and I ultimately had to nuke my entire domain to get rid of it. Something somewhere was making calls for images I no longer had anywhere. So, I think you are thinking rightly, and I hope you can find someone to help that does not suggest you need to go get some theme support.
