Support » Fixing WordPress » some images not showing after migration

    Hi there!
We recently moved a wordpress site from our dev hosting to our client’s. Things seemed to be running smoothly, until some problems appeared with images.

Some images and thumbnails are missing:

    1. Their urls are correctly set
    2. files are in the uploads folder/subfolders
    3. images appear in the media library

…however, the images just don’t show up on the website.

This is very frustrating and we’re at a loss as to what the problem would be. Any idea?

  • Hi @fruitor ,

We’d need to see a page with the issue. Can you share the link if this is still an issue?

    Thanks!

    Hi @mlchaves !
    Thank you for your message.
Sorry, I forgot to update my post. The problem is now solved.

Turns out the problem was unexpected, and had nothing to do with WordPress. Our hosting provider’s servers had a limit as to the number/volume of files that could be transferred in a single folder. Our client had uplaoded a lot of images, which exceeded that volume. When they were uploading on our test server everything was fine; but after the migration, it translated in weird missinge images, with no clear pattern/clue as to why some images were impacted and not others.

    Marking the issue as resolved.
    Thanks again!

    Hi @fruitor ,

That’s wonderful news. Thanks for sharing your solution.

    Have an excellent weekend 🙂
