Support » Plugin: AMP » Some Images Not Loading Version 1.0

  • Resolved Udegbunam Chukwudi

This is just a notice that after the update to the latest version 1.0.0, some images stopped loading on my amp pages. I had to rollback to 0.7.2 to get them loading again.

You guys might want to look into that.

Images would not load and would be showing something like the below mentioned when you right click to open image in new tab

    data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,<svg height=”553px” width=”720px” xmlns=”; version=”1.1″/>

Actually, I’m seeing only the first load, and the other are ads.

This is strange. I’m going to loop in some others from the AMP team to debug this. Please leave it up on 1.0.1.

@westonruter For long should I leave it up sir? The issue also affects Google’s AMP cache and a huge chunk of my traffic is from AMP. If images aren’t loading, the site is literally useless to visitors unless they somehow switch to non-amp view 🙁

Switch it back in an hour. I should be able to get someone to look at it by then.

@westonruter I’ve also just noticed that this issue doesn’t affect all posts on the site. Some articles load images just fine while some just load the first image and nothing there after.

If the AMP plugin is downgraded to 0.7.2, the issue goes away completely

I’ve copied the source code of the AMP page into a Gist:

The issue can be replicated by pasting the source into

Issue is identified to be (thanks to Sebastian Benz) is the display:inline in this style rule:

This conflicts with the layout on the generated amp-img.

Specifically, there is display:inline on this element in the non-AMP version of the page:

    <img title="MAMP for MAC Panel Setup" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="MAMP for MAC Panel Setup" src="" width="720" height="553" data-recalc-dims="1" data-lazy-src=";ssl=1" srcset="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class=" jetpack-lazy-image">

Why is that display style there?

@westonruter That style rule doesn’t appear in my AMP template. Looks like it’s being auto injected somehow

@westonruter So I edited the post and deleted display:inline from all images and it’s working now on AMP. Looks like I have to start shuffling through my posts to delete display:inline as it’s causing issues with new versions of the AMP plugin

@westonruter Please do you by any chance know of a way to run a quick search on my backend to discover all posts that have display:inline in image tags? Thanks

@strictlyonlinebiz You should be able to just search the admin for “display inline”.

You’ve identified a tricky bug in the plugin which does need to be fixed. I’ve opened an issue which you can follow for a resolution:

@westonruter Thanks a lot sir. You’ve been most helpful sir 🙂

UPDATE: Installed this plugin and ran a search for display: inline; to be replaced by a blank space. No issues so far.
