some complicated trouble with 2.2.2 ( Asian characters invovled )

  • Well.

I’ve been switched to WordPress for a year. I was using WordPress2.1 that time, but after upgrading to 2.2, my database-backup just cannot output the correct .sql.gz file(it’s a file cannot be extracted)

How can I just left my Database there without any backup?

Then, I tried “mysqldump”, it works well. I got the .sql file but when being viewed in a plain-text editor, the Chinese characters seems to be a messy. I then am sure it has something to do with the “Character Sets” things of 2.2.2.

Can anyone give me something more in detail about that? What’s the differences between 2.2.2 and 2.1.x ?

I found a plugin called “UTF-8 Database Converter” by a Mexican but it doesn’t work. Anyway, it told me 2.2.2 is different (database issues) from 2.1, but I just don’t know what to do.

    is there any other solution?

    thanks in advance very much
