• I’ve created category templates for the ‘Forums’ category and sub-categories of my site.

If you look you can see that when you click on the category rumors the top says “Forums\ General MTG\ Rumors”, but if you click on any of the categories below “MTG Strategy” (like Standard (T2)) the same old default archive.php text appears.

I’ve remade the additional category pages from the ones that are displaying correctly –i’ve checked and rechecked this. I know the category IDs are correct. I cannot figure out WHY it’s displaying things differently for the second block of sub-sub categories.

I named the second blocks using spaces before them to fiddle with the sidebar dispaly order, but I don’t see how that could be the culprit.

    Any suggestions?

  • Might want to check Template_Hierarchy#Category_Page and of course you’ve already seen Category_Templates.

    Good luck.

Thanks for responding! Unfortunately, I’ve already scoured both of those. 🙁

I really can’t figure it out. There is absolutely no difference between the two different sets of category-x.php pages. the only difference i can think of is what i mentioned above, that i entered some spaces before the category titles. i don’t see how this could make the difference though since it doesn’t change the URLs of the categories.

Doesn’t make sense does it. I created a Category that was a child of a child category (the Category ID was 11). I wrote a post and assigned it that category. Then I created category-11.php file and when I clicked on that category from my sidebar I got the post displayed with my category-11.php file. I even put spaces in front of my Category name and slug and it still worked. This is the expected behavior.

What happens if you use just category.php? I also get your 404 page clicking on your MTGO and Decks & Shingles category links.
